Terms & Conditions
Last updated: March 5, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using MCSolver, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the software.
2. Description of Service
MCSolver is a macOS menu bar utility that captures a screenshot of your entire active display to process multiple-choice questions using AI, and displays the identified answer as a WiFi signal strength icon. The service is provided for educational and informational purposes.
3. Device Registration
MCSolver identifies your device using a hardware UUID. A unique secret is generated on first launch and stored in your macOS Keychain. Each redemption code can be activated on one device only.
4. Credits & Purchases
Credits are purchased through Stripe in EUR. All purchases are final and non-refundable. Credits never expire. You receive a redemption code by email after purchase, which you enter in the app to activate your credits.
5. BYOK Mode
The Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) option requires the purchase of a separate BYOK software license from us. Once activated, it lets you use your own OpenAI API key for unlimited solves. MCSolver is not responsible for any charges incurred on your OpenAI account. Your API key is stored locally on your device and transmitted directly to OpenAI.
6. Free Credits
Each new device receives 3 complimentary credits upon first connection. This is a one-time offer per device and cannot be renewed or transferred.
7. Privacy & Data
When triggered, MCSolver captures the entire visible screen of your active display. These screenshots are transmitted to our server (or directly to OpenAI in BYOK mode) for processing only and are not stored. We store your device ID and hashed credentials for authentication purposes. If you choose to submit feedback through the app, any optional email address provided will be collected for customer support purposes. The software also periodically connects to our servers in the background to check for necessary software updates. No other personal information is collected beyond what is necessary for the service to function.
8. Intellectual Property
MCSolver, including its software, design, and branding, is the property of Tim Cramer. You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the software on your personal devices.
9. Disclaimer
MCSolver is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy of answers. The software is intended as a study aid and should not be relied upon as the sole source of information.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tim Cramer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the use of MCSolver, including but not limited to academic consequences, financial losses, or data loss.
11. Updates
All software updates are included at no additional cost. Pricing for future credit purchases or new products may change at any time.
12. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to MCSolver for any device found to be abusing the service, including but not limited to automated usage, reselling credits, or attempting to circumvent device registration.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of MCSolver after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
